Custom Optics
Take advantage of over 70 years of experience producing your custom precision glass lenses.
Our skilled Master Opticians and engineers use the newest CNC manufacturing technology, state-of-the-art metrology, and skilled conventional methods to manufacture your lens components and assemblies to your specifications at the quality your customers demand.

Spheres
As a world-leader in the manufacture of custom glass lenses, we meet your specifications for prototype to production spherical lenses through both CNC and conventional methods. With our origins in making test plates, we have developed an unmatched reputation in the industry for producing high quality spherical lenses for clients like you, who have customers demanding high quality.

Aspheres
Kreischer Optics was one of the first to develop the CNC asphere process along with the already established conventional methods employed since our beginnings in 1948. We have developed the reputation as a cutting-edge producer of aspheric lenses, capable of achieving geometries most don’t consider possible with our recent addition of 200mm asphere and acylinder manufacturing capabilities. Please see our tips for designing aspheric lenses with manufacture in mind, saving you time and money.

Cylinders
The hidden gem of Kreischer optics is the highly capable cylinder production line. We use CNC manufacturing coupled with proprietary conventional methods to efficiently produce the highest quality glass cylinders in the market. Because we eliminate almost all tooling charges, our techniques are conducive to both prototype and production quantities; we may even save you money from catalog optics.
Manufacturing and Innovative Tooling
Through CNC manufacturing and innovative tooling, Kreischer Optics can produce any plano-convex cylindrical lens within the ranges listed

– Plano-convex or concave
– Bi-convex or concave
– Crossed cylindrical axis
– Cemented cylindrical doublets & triplets
– Precision rods and semi-rods

– Radii from 3mm to infinity
– Lengths (axial) to 650mm (25.6″)
– Widths (or diameters) to 10″
– Surface accuracies to 1/10-wave irregularity
Quality Control
– Interferometrically tested
– Surface qualities to 10-5
– Prototype to production quantity
Standard Tolerances
– Length (axial direction): +/- 0.10mm
– Width (power direction): +/-0.10mm
– Center thickness: +/- 0.15mm
– Radius: +/- 0.20%
– Focal length: +/- 0.25%
– Surface figure: (max. irr. @ 633nm)
• 4-wave per 10mm
• 2-wave
– Surface quality: 60/40
– Wedge: 0.025mm maximum edge thickness difference
NOTE : Tighter tolerances can be achieved at an increased cost.
Precision Rods and Semi-Rods
Ideal for shorter focal length lenses are the use of precision polished rods, which can be cut down to form plano-convex sections (semi-rods). BK-7 rod blanks are kept in stock, per the table below, but other glass types and dimensions are available.
