Emil Kreischer
Began Kreischer Optics, Ltd., manufacturing test plates in a one room apartment in Evanston, Illinois in 1948.
In 1933, seventeen-year-old Emil Kreischer designed and constructed his own telescope, spending a grand total of $6 for various parts. He delighted in grinding the glass lens and developed an interest in optics. This interest drew him to work for Bell and Howell in the model shop during World War II. He then began Kreischer Optics, Ltd., manufacturing test plates in a one room apartment in Evanston, Illinois in 1948.
Cody Kreischer
Spent over 30 years building the company to become one of the most respected and beloved manufacturers of custom glass lenses in the country.
Emil’s son, Cody Kreischer began young, mopping floors and cleaning his father’s shop in fifth grade, completed his Masters Degree at the University of Arizona’s Optical Sciences Center, then worked as a Senior Engineer at Recon Optical in Barrington, Illinois before taking over as President of Kreischer Optics, Ltd. in 1986. He designed a line of transmission spheres to fill in the gaps left behind by others on the market and spent over 30 years building the company to become one of the most respected and beloved manufacturers of custom glass lenses in the country.
Barry Tyler
2019 brought a renewed passion to Kreischer Optics when Barry Tyler came aboard as president of the company, bringing past experience from Satisloh and American-Photonics Co.
Together with Tina Miller Kreischer, who succeeded Cody as CEO, they worked to keep Kreischer Optics the preferred world leader, continuing the legacy of setting American standards high.
